Originally aired on KKTV – April 29, 2021

Throughout the country, there is a shortage of nurses highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic. In Colorado, there is a new project underway to address this crisis.

Destinations Career Academy of Colorado has received $60,000 in funding to create a mobile nursing lab. The lab will provide healthcare training opportunities to high school students, allowing them to receive industry-level training and complete clinical hours.

“This is such a dire need in our society,” said Sharri Bossman of Destinations Career Academy of Colorado. “When they graduate from high school, they can either take that certificate and actually just get a job as a CNA or a CMA, or they can take that and incorporate that into their college.”
