Wyoming Virtual Academy to Hold Commencement Ceremony on May 18

Online School Honors Class of 2019 with In-Person Celebration

LUSK, Wyo.

LUSK, Wyo.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Wyoming Virtual Academy (WYVA) will celebrate the 45 members of its Class of 2019 at an in-person commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 18 in Lusk. A tuition-free online public school program of Niobrara County School District #1, WYVA is available to students across the state.

“Graduation is an incredible time for our students, and their families,” said Joseph Heywood, WYVA’s Academic Administrator. “We are honored to have provided them with an online learning platform that met their needs, and they should be proud of all they have done to accomplish their academic and personal goals.”

WYVA graduates earn their high school diplomas in an online, personalized learning environment. Following graduation, members of the Class of 2019 report plans to enroll in two- and four-year colleges and universities, enter military service, or join the full-time workforce.

Senator Affie Ellis will deliver the commencement’s keynote address.

“Congratulations to the Wyoming Virtual Academy Class of 2019,” said Senator Ellis. “Your high school diploma recognizes all of your hard work, and by graduating from an online public school, you represent every student in Wyoming who has benefitted from having access to the school of their choice.”

WYVA students access a robust online curriculum in the core subjects and a host of electives, and attend live virtual classes taught by state-licensed teachers. WYVA also offers student clubs, field trips and social outings to foster a sense of school community, such as this week’s graduation celebration.
